Open House – February 1, 2014

Winter has definitely visited us this year – cold, snow, cold, cold, cold, cold, – but on the positive side – there will be less pesky mosquitoes when we’re hot, sweaty and whining!!  It’s been a little difficult getting to the shop a couple days this year and even harder to plan our annual winter open house.  But – in hopeful anticipation of warmer days – we have scheduled Open House for this Saturday, February 1st from 9:00am – 3:00pm.  Our sale will constitute $1.00 per yard off all fabrics; 20% off all notions, books and patterns; jellyrolls and layercakes will be $30.00; Fat quarters $2.00.

A few of the new collections in the shop this year includes – 80 new bolts of 1930’s reproduction fabrics – perfect for those periwinkle stars we will be making on our Thursday Sit n’ Sew.

The newest Jan Patek fabric line, absolutely sings about warm evenings on the front porch with lightning bugs twinkling and the geraniums in full bloom! Or a cool summer morning with a great cup of coffee and the watering can …can’t you just feel it??  All 40 bolts and jellyrolls are already in the shop!!

There is no place the 3-Sisters love more than Paris in springtime. Leisurely strolls along the Seine and into the many lovely gardens are the inspirations for Printemps. Aptly named after the French word for spring and the sister’s favorite department store in Paris. Printemps is the crème de la crème in a deliciously soft palette of delicate floral prints that appear as though they were fresh picked from Marie Antoinette’s garden at Versailles. Layercakes and jellyrolls available now – bolts should arrive in February.

Drift off on a little Daydream from sketchbook doodles over hills and valleys to Arcadian streams.  This richly saturated collection glows with a fantastical mix of enchanting flowers, hummingbirds, butterflies and more. Venture into its bright glades and blissful patterns to enjoy the reverie before coming full circle to start your day again, renewed with wonder!! Layer cakes and jellyrolls available now – bolts should arrive in February.

Follow the globe, round, smooth, never ending, and expanding in every direction, no matter if you are south, west, east or north. The secret is to find your own destination and your path of beautiful clarity. Dive into the delicate story of sphere and be inspired by its vast expanse of words, three-dimensional balls, arrows, windflowers and multicolored spacey prints. Find your own direction in this world of fabrics for unique modern and fresh quilts. This collection is designed by Zen-Chic for Moda and bolts should arrive in February. Jellyrolls and layer cakes available now.

We have many more collections arriving at the shop from February through April; check back with us for updates of these arrivals.

Breathe that fresh fall air – hmmm

I love Autumn – all the beautiful colors – the chill in the air – just love it!!!  I have been quilting like crazy the last few weeks, trying to get caught up on all the Christmas quilts for my friends.  Really inspires me to see all the different fabrics and patterns everyone has been piecing this summer – I have about 15 new quilts I’d like to start but have promised myself nothing new until after Christmas – (like that’s ever worked before – lol)

We will be getting Moda’s Primitive Gatherings’ newest line “Floral Gatherings” in the shop soon – another 60 bolts of temptation!! Everyone has been asking for this collection and I will try to post here the day it arrives.

Stella came today and I must say I believe we are going to be really good friends.  Oh – yes – Stella is my new LED table lamp that has adjustable brightness as well as 3 different types of lighting – from soft to daylight – great for determining those colors and even better for sewing late at night.  We will be running specials on these during the holidays – normally retails for $220.00 but we will be giving 25% off thru end of year. (Great item to put on those Christmas lists).

Pigeon Forge bus trip is officially full – so if you planned on going and didn’t get to the shop you may want to put your name on a waiting list in case someone has to drop out.

Well – that’s about all the news I have today – just wanted to say hello to everyone and hope to see you soon!!

God Bless

Phyllis

Open House

Brrr – sure is chilly today!!  What a perfect day to be cuddled up under a nice flannel quilt – or even finishing the binding on one of our many projects :).  Or—just daydreaming about all the projects we want to do.

OK – since it’s a New Year – why not try some New things here at the shop??  I have had a lot of suggestions about classes and projects from many of you and feel that it is indeed time for some New ways :).  In lieu of formal classes, I am going to be offering some different types of learning opportunities for the winter session this year.

I have heard and watched a lot of you (myself included) scurrying about trying to get the items ready for our church Christmas bazaars, as well as those perfect gifts for our family and friends.  Every year we promise ourselves that we’re going to get “started early” next year and not go through all this stress – soooo – I decided to step out early and dedicate the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am – 3:00pm as our Christmas Project of the Month Day.  Each month, I will come up with a project and a leader to give you the opportunity to get all our Christmas projects completed by November this year!  We will begin at 10:00am and sew thru 3:00pm – cost will be $5.00 for the leader and the cost of the pattern.  Seating will be limited to 8 – so sign up early if you want to get De-stressed this year :)

February 6th  – Braided Tablerunner

March 6th – Fine Dining Placemats

April 3rd – Tree Skirt (or could be used as tabletopper)

May 1st -  Lapthrow – Tied up in Bows

June 12th – rescheduled due to Shop Hop – will announce later

Now that we have next Christmas under control – let’s get some early spring cleaning done.  I looked in my sewing room (no, I don’t have a studio – Dave still expects me to clean it once a year J ) and I discovered so very many projects half done.  I must get these finished, another one of those things I believe I have heard a few of you say also!  Hmm- did I hear someone say – PhD Class?? – on a Saturday??? – Why not – I am dedicating the second Saturday of each month as our new “PhD class” – (projects half done) -  we will begin sewing at 10:00am – and sew until 3:00pm and really start feeling better about this “cleaning process”.

There will be no charge for this class – so it will be on a first come basis, as the seating is limited to 8 people.

It has also come to my attention that we have some friends that actually have all their projects completed and just want to learn a few new techniques.  I thought this would also be a good place for our beginner quilters – so we have decided that Thursdays would be the dedicated days for this. Again, we start sewing at 10:00am until 3:00pm and will do the following projects.

Feb. 7th – Open Sew – work on your own projects this day

Feb. 14th – Neighbor’s Day – A day of using our talents and gifts to help those in need. –

Feb. 21st – Jellyroll Race – $5.00 for leader

Feb. 28th – 4-Patch Stack n Whack  - $5.00 for leader, $8.00 pattern

March 7th – Open Sew – work on your own projects

March 14th – Shop closed for Pigeon Forge Trip

March 21st – Lickety Split Log Cabin – $5.00 for leader – $3.50 pattern

March 28th – Hot Cross Stars – $5.00 for leader – $3.50 pattern

April 4th – Open Sew – work on your own projects this day

April 11th – Neighbor’s Day – Giving back a small amount of your time truly means an immeasurable amount to those in need

April 18th – Mysterious – $5.00 for leader – $8.00 pattern

April 25th – Mirrored Tiles – $5.00 for leader – $3.50 pattern

Alright, I think the only other thing I overheard was some of you couldn’t make the classes and gatherings during the week and you didn’t have any projects not done so what could I do for you???  How about the fourth Saturday of each month from 10:00am – 3:00pm we choose a new project to start :)

February 23rd – Shadowbox – $5.00 for leader – $8.00 pattern

March 23rd – “Any Twelve Will Do” tablerunner – $5.00/leader – $3.50 pattern

April 27th – “Savanna” – $5.00/leader – $8.00 pattern

Well, I believe our calendars are starting to get filled up already :)  I hope everyone embraces these changes as opportunities to de-stress, learn new and perhaps easier methods, be able to spend more time with our friends, and look forward to meeting and sharing with new friends!

Open House will be Saturday – January 26th – 9:00am – 3:00pm and we will be having our annual sale of $1.00/per yard off;  Fat quarters will be $1.75 each – applies to individual precut fat quarters only –(if we cut during Open House the price will be $2.00/each; prepackaged bundles will also be $2.00/per FQ ); Books, patterns and notions will all be 20% off marked price.

Some of the samples of the above mentioned classes will be on display – however, we will be making new samples out of the latest fabrics as we receive them – Each month’s projects will be displayed at the beginning of the month so you will have a choice of the latest fabrics available, as well as another opportunity to visit the shop and checkout the latest arrivals.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this coming Saturday!!

Blessings,

Phyllis

Happy New Year!!

Has it been another whole year already??  Well, I suppose that means lots of new opportunities to share our passion for quilting, find lots of patterns, books and gadgets to demo and pass along and many hours to gather for creating, challenging one another and just enjoying our friends!!

I don’t have a class schedule as of yet, but will be working with the teachers in the next few days to hopefully have some samples and dates ready by open house.  I just wanted to take a few minutes to update our new fabric collections that have arrived (see the fabric tabs) and wish everyone a Happy New Year.  Last year was a difficult year for many of our friends and teachers and I pray that 2013 will bring healing, comfort and peace to them. I am thankful to each of you for your understanding and patience as we work through these difficult times.

I am also making the final plans for the Pigeon Forge trip in March - there is still room on the bus for those interested.  I really need to have your money in for your trip by January 15th; as we will be doing our room assignment list with the hotel at that time – so if you’re thinking about going – let me know :) I have a tentative itineary listed here also if you want to check it out.

Well, I’m off to find some projects for our Thursday Sit n Sews – will post again soon

Blessings,

Oops!!

Sorry everyone – seems like I had a typo error in my last post pertaining to the Pigeon Forge Bus trip.  The deposit should have been $125.00 instead of $175.00.  There are three equal payments for a total of $375.00 each person (based on double occupancy).  There are a few more seats available if you haven’t got your deposit in.  Again, I apologize for the misprint – that side of my brain must have been asleep already :)

On a lighter note – Moda’s Double Chocolate has arrived in the shop and is just as luscious as their last collection.  Old Glory from Primitive Gatherings and Everlasting by Sandy Gervais has also found their way on the shelves as well.  Lots of new fabrics to keep us busy during these snowy, cold days.

Hope everyone is safe and staying warm!

Happy Quilting!
