Blue skies, 40 degrees – hmm – winter really isn’t that bad – so far. I feel a change is in the air though – so I’m getting ready – stocking up on new fabrics, notions, books and patterns. Excited to see all the new and bright fabrics coming in for spring already – and . . . . .

Our teachers have been busy piecing samples for their upcoming classes – getting me really excited to start classes soon!

Open House this Saturday – January 24th – 9:00am – 4:00pm – Fabric is $1.00 per yard off (excluding sale fabric) – Jellyrolls and layercakes – $30.00 each – Fat quarters – $2.00 each – Books, notions and patterns – 20% off.

Without further ado – Here’s the classes:

Simple What Not Club: Cookie Ranson will continue to lead the club into 6 new Kim Diehl “what not” projects – one new project per month. They will meet twice a month – the second and third Tuesday at 10:00am-12:00pm or if you are an afternoon person she will be holding the same class again at 1:00pm-3:00pm. Kits will be available for each month on the first day of class – so be sure to sign up so we will be certain to have your kit ready!! Confident beginners – intermediate

Scrappy Jacket: This jacket by Kaye Moore is back by popular demand. Cookie Ranson will be instructing you on constructing your own “coat of many colors”. She has gathered the homespuns needed for this project and will be available to purchase on the first day of class. Again, this is an all-time favorite here at the shop – and a great way to get a perfect fit right in time for those chilly spring evenings. Confident beginners – intermediate —Instructor fee: $40.00, pattern required – Tuesday – February 24th, March 3rd and March 24th – 1:00pm – 3:00pm.

7-Sisters: Another great class re-scheduled by request. Clara Poe instructs you on the “simple” way to do the Seven Sisters quilt block using Marti Michell’s pattern and template set. The blocks and quilts made from her last two classes were absolutely stunning!! Come join the fun in this old-time favorite quilt block. Instructor fee: $10.00 – pattern and template set required – Wednesday, February 25th – 10:00 – 3:00pm – Class limited to eight students – intermediate

Kimberbell’s Bench Pillow of the Month: In this class you will learn to make a bench pillow form and then a different pillow covering each month. Absolutely makes you smile when you see all the happy appliques and fabrics used in these delicious patterns. Kay Taylor will lead the POM project on the 1st Saturday of each month – starting at 10:00am – 3:00pm. It isn’t necessary to take the class each month – but I warn you – they are addictive!!! Sign up ahead of time in order that we will have your kit ready for class. Beginner – intermediate Instructor fee: $10.00/per class – pattern and kit $35.00.

Spinwheels – An easy paper-pieced project for beginners made from jellyrolls. I am repeating this class again for those that missed last session – and of course it’s not just for beginners but a great pattern for intermediate quilters as well. Instructor fee: $10.00 – pattern required, add a quarter ruler and glue stick essential. Confident beginner – intermediate. Wed. Feb 18th – 10-3

Quilting 101: This beginners class will take you through straightening your fabric, rotary cutting, and getting that ¼” seam allowance perfected. Dee Begley will be limiting this class to four students in order to enable her to be more one on one during these basic instructions. You will be making a small quilt/wallhanging Instructor fee: $40.00/Harriet Hargrave’s Volume I quilting book is required – You will be making a wallhanging size 9-patch for this first project. Saturday – February 14, and Saturday April 11th – 10:00am – 3:00pm

Navajo Star: This stunning quilt is made from Moda’s honeybuns or your selection of 1 ½” strips – Jody Postalwait is the instructor for this one-day class – showing you how to utilize your everyday ruler or a specialty ruler if you prefer. Instructor fee: $25.00 – Saturday, February 21st, pattern required. Confident beginner – intermediate 

Double Delight Mystery Quilt: Here we go again – for all you mystery lovers, Dee Begley is willing to lead you down that path again this spring!! She will have all your fabric requirements and clues on the day of sign-up – so don’t miss out on this one – She has a history of some really awesome mystery quilts!!!! Instructor fee: $60.00, Saturday Feb. 28th, March 28th, April 25th, and May 30th – 10:00am – 3:00pm – Excitement required!!! Intermediate level

Strips Ahoy!!!: I will be leading you on a fun jellyroll project featuring a partial seam technique. Quick and easy – sure to be a good way to use up some of those jellyrolls we’ve been collecting (or the latest ones arriving at the shop). Beginner to intermediate level. Instructor fee: $10.00 – Thursday March 5th – 10:00am – 3:00pm – pattern required – Strips Ahoy using Wrens Nest Jellyrolls

Cathedral Windows Simplified: Kay Taylor is teaching this Less than Traditional project again – you choose either medium or large size templates and she will have you joining those windows together in no time – Beginner/Intermediate Instructor fee: $10.00 – Wednesday, March 11th – 10:00-3:00pm. – Template required.

Wonky Log Cabin: Eleanor Burns strikes again!! This modern twist on an old favorite pattern really changes up the end results. Jody Postalwait’s sample is awesome and the addition of the partial seam borders brings it up yet another notch!! Beginner – intermediate —Instructor fee: $25.00 – Saturday March 14th – 10:00am – 3:00pm. Book and ruler required.

Magic Star: Take this one block wonder and see how many ways you can turn it!! Absolutely stunning quilt with endless possibilities – come let Dee Begley teach you how to piece this one block and you will find yourselves truly amazed. Instructor fee: $25.00 – Saturday March 21st – 10:00am – 3:00pm – Confident beginner – intermediate – tri-recs tool or perfect rectangle ruler needed.

Modified 54-40 or fight: I will lead you on this modified version of two traditional quilt blocks combined. A little strip piecing, some half-square units and the triangle in a square ruler from Eleanor Burns makes this straight pieced quilt have the appearance of being curved. Confident beginner – Intermediate –Instructor fee: $30.00 – Wednesday – April 8th, 15th, 22nd – 10:00-3:00pm Ruler required.

Feathered All Star Quilt: Let Jody Postalwait walk you through this spectacular star book by Eleanor Burns. Everyone loves the feathered star – but is a little hesitant in starting it – never fear – Jody has found the answer and is willing to show you how it’s done. Confident beginner – intermediate Instructor fee: $25.00 – Saturday April 18th – 10:00am – 3:00pm – Ruler required

Hunter Star: When you use Deb Tucker’s ruler you will understand what makes this star become radiant. Dee Begley will teach you how to use this new ruler and show you how effective and simple this complicated star becomes. Confident beginner – intermediate —Instructor fee: $25.00 – Saturday, May 9th – 10:00am – 3:00pm Ruler required

Rainbow Swirls: Whimsical and flowing log cabin gives the appearance of complicated curved piecing only to have Jody show all straight piecing techniques. This little quilt will inspire you to pull lots of scraps from your stash and bring them to life. Beginner – Intermediate — Instructor: Jody Postalwait – fee – $25.00 – Saturday May 16th – 10:00-3:00pm Pattern required.
